About Mr. Stephen Douglas Elson

Mr. Elson studied photography in New York with LIFE Magazine photographer Harold Feinstein, a purist who taught that the eye was the best framer of the image and that a photograph should be printed as the eye sees it. His own photography follows that same principle today and the images are not altered in either the film or digital media format.

As a young man Mr. Elson’s began learning his craft from his award winning father who was staff photographer for the U.S. Army occupation of Japan, and then a Hollywood photographer before focusing his talents on images of the early space program. The influence of his father’s creativity has had a lasting affect on Mr. Elson’s own artistry and concept of photography.

Some of Mr. Elson’s best images are in the collections of Warner Brothers Studio, UCLA Medical Center, ASC, CBS, and many private collections in the both the United States and Europe.
